The Town of Monkton, along with all the other towns in Addison County, has agreed to accept Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (“Funds”).  While the total amount of monies to be given to the Town of Monkton by the U.S. Treasury is not clear, a total of $218,000 has already been allocated to the Town and will be delivered in two drafts.  These funds need to be spent over the course of the next 3 years and broadly can be used for the following purpose:

  • Support Public Health Response
  • Address Negative Economic Impacts
  • Replace Public Sector Revenue Loss
  • Premium Pay for Essential Workers
  • Water and Sewer Infrastructure
  • Broadband Infrastructure
  • Equity-Focused Services

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for Monkton and we’d like to hear your ideas about the best way to use these funds to enhance Monkton’s future.  The Selectboard is hosting an informational meeting and workshop to discuss the funding terms and conditions, add new ideas to the already long list, and work on a way to score the ideas and make recommendations to the Selectboard.

Please join us either in person at 92 Monkton Ridge Road  (new Town Offices) or remotely using Zoom.  Below are the agenda and resources to help you understand what the funds can and cannot be used for, and a list of the current ideas submitted to date.

Informational Meeting and Workshop Agenda

  • Review funding terms and conditions and process so far
  • Add any additional ideas.  Report out ideas and thoughts
  • Work on creating score card to rank ideas
  • Develop ideas for how to keep the ball rolling
