Monkton Community Coffeehouse

The Monkton Community Coffeehouse is a non-profit organization that was founded in 2007 by a group of Monkton residents to re-connect the community through education, entertainment and the arts. It has partnered with other Monkton organizations to create community events like the Chili Cook-off, Monkton Day, the Monkton Garlic Festival and Get Lit Monkton! In 2012, the Coffeehouse launched the Monkton Flag Project, Pecha Kucha and a winter workshop and a summer concert series.

In 2009, the Coffeehouse launched Monkton Talk, an electronic community newsletter which grew to over 300 subscribers to help residents more easily connect and communicate with each other. In February 2013, the Coffeehouse decided to upgrade its service and sponsor Front Porch Forum (FPF) in Monkton. Monkton Talk stopped publishing in March 2013.

Founded in Burlington in 2006, FPF currently hosts local online forums in 85 towns throughout Vermont.  People use the site to track down a lost dog, recommend a good source of cord wood, organize help for a neighbor who is ill, find a babysitter, debate the school budget, report a break-in, and much more.  Residents can subscribe for free at FrontPorchForum.com.
