The Russell Library is holding its annual Strawberry Festival, Silent Auction and Used Book Sale fundraiser in the midst of the town-wide celebration of Monkton’s 250th Anniversary on Sunday, June 24th from noon til 3pm at the Central School gym, and we’re looking for donations of used books! Fiction, non-fiction, classics, children’s books, cookbooks, travel books……. all these and more welcome. We’re NOT able to accept encyclopedias, textbooks or magazines of ANY kind or videos (DVD, VHS, or video games). Please drop off items at the library during our regular hours ONLY (Tues: 4-8, Fri: 9-1, Sat: 9-2) or call the library @ 453-4471 to arrange a meet-up. Thanks so much for supporting YOUR local library and see you on the 24th for hot dogs, locally grown green salad and of course strawberry shortcake, along with live old-time music and plenty of titles to enhance your summer reading!

Select Board Meeting Time Changed
The Select Board meeting on Monday June 11th will start at 6:30 instead of the normal 7:00 to accommodate the large amount of business to attend to.
Monkton 250th Anniversary Celebration
The Monkton 250th Anniversary Celebration on June 24th has something for everyone! Events start with a 5K run at 10 AM followed by a parade from Monkton Ridge to the Elementary School with a BBQ to follow. After the parade, there will be a time capsule dedication and a tree planting on Morse Park. The Boy Scouts will have a presentation of their learned activities, a rocket launch and more at Morse Park. It is also the Russell Memorial Library’s 25th annual Strawberry Festival and book sale, which will start at noon and end at 3:00 P.M. at the Monkton Central School. Of course there will be that wonderful strawberry shortcake to eat, plus hot dogs, salad and drinks for lunch. There will also be music from 1-3 P.M. with the old timey band called “Run Mountain”.
