Invitation to Submit Letters of Interest

The Mt. Abraham Union Middle/High School Board is seeking a Monkton resident interested in serving on the 13-member school board as a result of a recent vacancy. It is the responsibility of the Town School Board to appoint a qualified person to fill this vacancy until an election at a special or the next annual meeting is held. Members of the Monkton community are invited to submit a letter of interest to serve as a board member by Friday, November 13th. The Board will meet with interested individuals on Tuesday, November 17th at their November Board meeting (time tbd) at Mt. Abraham Union Middle/High School, and anticipate appointing a new member at that time.

Monkton Central School Board meeting date change and an SU Board update

The next Monkton Central School Board meeting will be following a carousel meeting for all ANESU Boards. Those meetings will be on November 17th beginning at 7pm In the Mt. Abraham large cafeteria. Agendas will be posted prior to those meetings.

The ANESU Supervisory Union Board passed the following 3 motions at a meeting on 10/12/15.

Moved that the board authorize the Executive Committee to conclude a separation agreement with David Adams along terms discussed with the full board tonight. The agreement is to be made public when voted on in open session, and then fully executed by the Executive Committee. D. Griswold noted that the next Executive Committee meeting will be next Tuesday. Voted and passed 14-0.

Moved for the Executive Committee to work with the acting superintendent to frame a process for selecting an interim superintendent. Voted and passed 14-0.

Moved to authorize the Executive Committee to compensate the acting superintendent for the additional responsibilities taken on. Voted and passed 14-0.

Monkton School Board seeking community member for ACT 46 study Committee

The Monkton Central School Board of Directors is looking for one Monkton community member to serve on the ANESU Supervisory Union ACT 46 study committee. Monkton will have 3 out of the 15 total representatives on the committee that will look at options for implementing the governance and consolidation charges of this new Educational Law. This Committee will meet frequently for an as yet undetermined period of time, mostly evenings, so interested parties will need to have availability for that type of schedule. The first meeting will be the evening of October 26th.
