2023 Town of Monkton Elected Positions

2023 Town of Monkton Elected Positions

If you are interested in running for an elected office in the town of Monkton, a list of open or expiring terms is shown below.

To have your name appear on the ballot you must submit a petition with the signatures of at least 1% of the registered voters in Monkton (approximately 17, but it’s good to be on the safe side and get more in case some signatures end up being deemed ineligible). Forms for petitions are available from the Town Clerk. Petitions should be returned to the Town Clerk or the drop box at the Town Hall.

The deadline for submitting a petition is Monday, January 30th at 5PM

You may leave petitions at the town hall so people can stop in and sign, or take it with you to gather signatures on your own. There are already a number of petitions set out for signatures on the table at the Town Hall.

November Election Information Update

Please remember as the election is getting closer that if you plan to vote by mail you were mailed the ballot from the state, however that did not include any local election or voting items including the school merger and other positions that might need to be voted on.

In order to get the local BALLOTS you must request it from the town clerk or come vote in person on election day.

If you are voting in person on November 8th, all necessary local ballot items will be presented to you DURING check in. If you plan on voting in person on election day. Please be sure to bring your ballot that was mailed to you from the state. If you do not bring it, you will have to fill out a Affidavit form to receive another ballot.

We want to make sure all voices are heard on local issues particularly the school merger decision.

Any question please feel free to call or send the town clerk an email.

Sending an email would be best then I will have a written record of who wants ballots mailed. Please let me know name and address to send to.
