NOTICE TO TAXPAYERS

The Assessor has filed the preliminary Grand List of Monkton property owners as of April 1, 2026 with the Monkton Town Clerk on June 2, 2026. It may be reviewed at the Office of the Town Clerk during regular Town Hall hours.

The Assessors will hold a meeting on June 17, 2026 between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to hear any grievances regarding the preliminary 2026 Grand List. Please call or email at the information above to schedule a hearing appointment during these hours.

All grievances must be in writing and received by the Assessor no later than June 16, 2026 by 5:00 p.m. Grievances may be sent by regular mail to the address above or via email at the email address listed above. At the close of the grievance hearing the Assessors shall make any corrections to the preliminary Grand List as determined by the outcome of the hearing. The updated Grand List will become the Grand List used for the 2026 tax year for each taxpayer in the Town of Monkton.

PERMIT WORK

PERMIT WORK – Please be aware that our professional Assessor, New England Municipal Resource Center (NEMRC) will be in Monkton performing permit work next week 5/11-5/15.  If you have an open permit, we will be stopping by to determine the progress of your project in order to update your assessed value for the 2026 Grand List.  The vehicle should have a sign attached indicating that it belongs to a NEMRC assessor.  If you have any issues or questions, please contact the Assessor’s office at 453-4515 or via email at [email protected].
