Multiple Town Plow Trucks Down

We just had two more of our plow trucks go down (one this morning and another this afternoon). They have been sent in for repairs, but we do not yet have word on when they will be back in operation. We still don’t have our new truck yet, so we are down to one plow truck at present. (Plus the grader, which we have been using to fill in, but it is slow and does not have the ability to spread salt/sand.)

The road crew has been doing what they can to keep up. It looks as though we are past the worst of the precipitation for the next few days, so that’s a help. However, with the cold snap we are expecting, salt will not be very effective.

If conditions deteriorate, please consider avoiding driving or postponing trips until conditions improve. Our ability to respond quickly to adverse weather will be hampered until we get these trucks back in operation.

(and yes, we are looking in to alternatives, just as we did last fall. Options are limited, but we are searching.)

Mountain Rd Closing Thursday, Dec. 12

UPDATE: We are still on for this culvert replacement on Thursday, Dec 12.

The north end of Mountain Rd will be closed to through traffic on Thursday, December 12, 2019, to make more lasting repairs to the large culvert which was temporarily repaired on Nov. 20

Expect local traffic only on the paved section of Mountain Rd from the intersection with States Prison Hollow Rd south to Preston Lane. The road will remain passable to allow the school bus through at approximately 7:20 AM. After that, there will be no through traffic over the large culvert approximately 1/2 mile south of States Prison Hollow Rd (approximately 50 yards north of where the pavement ends). Traffic will be restored when the repairs are completed.

The hope is to complete this repair in one day. If things go well, there is a chance it will be reopened for the afternoon/evening commute, but no guarantees. If the contractor uncovers unexpected problems, it could take longer.
