The Monkton Town Office will be CLOSED Thursday 11/28 and Friday 11/29 for Thanksgiving. We will reopen normal business hours on Monday 12/02.

Happy Thanksgiving to Everyone

The north end of Mountain Rd will be closed to through traffic from 7 AM to 5 PM on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 to make temporary repairs to a failed culvert.

Expect local traffic only on the paved section of Mountain Rd from the intersection with States Prison Hollow Rd south to Preston Lane. There will be no through traffic over the large culvert approximately 1/2 mile south of States Prison Hollow Rd (approximately 50 yards north of where the pavement switches to dirt). Traffic will be restored when the temporary repairs are completed.

UPDATE (11/18/19): The road will remain open long enough Wednesday morning for the school bus to pass at about 7:20 AM. It is highly unlikely that the work will be completed in time for the school bus’ afternoon trip down Mountain Rd. (Betcha has been notified, as has Monkton Central School, and MAUSD.)
