Special Election to vote on Zoning Regulations

The Monkton Select Board has warned a special election to vote on adopting the new zoning bylaws. The warning for this election reads as follows:

The legal voter of the Town of Monkton, Vermont are hereby warned and notified that Article 1 will be voted by Australian Ballot Thursday, February 23, 2012 at the Town Hall in said Town of Monkton. Polls will be open at 7:00 am and close at 7:00 pm

Article 1: Shall the voters of the Town of Monkton adopt the Unified Planning Document files with the Clerk of the Town of Monkton on January 24, 2012?

Copies of the Unified Planning Document are available at the Town Clerk’s Office during regular business hours and online at Unified Planning Document

2011 Monkton Town Report available

Copies of the 2011 Monkton Town Report are available at the Town Hall and online for the first time at 2011 Monkton Town Report. One copy is being sent to each household with one or more registered Monkton voters. Please take the time to look over the Town Report prior to Town Meeting on March 6th.

Recreation grant awarded to Town of Monkton

The Vermont Department of Buildings & General Services announced they have awarded a $7,500 grant to the Town of Monkton Recreation Committee. The grant request was written to help fund the construction of a pavilion to be located on the Morse Park recreation property. Recreation Committee members Charlie Huizenga, Karla Huizenga & Bob Whalen attended the awards ceremony in Montpelier.Lt. Governor Phil Scott awarding the $7,500 check to Karla & Charlie Huizenga.
