Vermont Gas will begin blasting next week (4/11) starting from Post Road and moving north to Hollow Road along the VELCO right of way. The work consists of drilling blast holes, blasting, crushing the rock and placing in the ditch produced by the blast. Crews will mobilize on Monday and begin drilling with blasting starting no earlier than Tuesday. 24 hour notices will be delivered on Monday morning (previous notices have already been done). Vermont Gas says that 16 impacted land owners will get noticed for this work. This round of blasting should take a week, possibly a bit more. Continue reading

Vermont Gas has started pipeline construction activities in the Town of Monkton. As agreed in the Memo of Understanding (MOU), town officials have started attending the pre-construction meetings. The information in this post is provided to share that information with Town residents. Because of road conditions, easement issues, and permitting, construction in Monkton will not happen in a linear fashion from North to South but will be in sections. Vermont Gas has started clearing operations in Monkton and will start some blasting operations as soon as the second week in April. Vermont Gas has been doing flagging and survey work in Monkton over the past couple of weeks.
