Plow Truck Update

This morning, the road crew was able to get our 550 (1 ton) truck repaired and ready to go.

In addition, as of about noon today, they replaced the water pump in the Mack truck (one of our larger plow trucks), so it also is back up and on the road.

A Bristol truck came up this morning to assist with sanding some of our roads. The roads had never dried out after the storm, and with the colder weather, were icing up. Thanks to the Bristol crew for their assistance while our trucks were down.

Multiple Town Plow Trucks Down

We just had two more of our plow trucks go down (one this morning and another this afternoon). They have been sent in for repairs, but we do not yet have word on when they will be back in operation. We still don’t have our new truck yet, so we are down to one plow truck at present. (Plus the grader, which we have been using to fill in, but it is slow and does not have the ability to spread salt/sand.)

The road crew has been doing what they can to keep up. It looks as though we are past the worst of the precipitation for the next few days, so that’s a help. However, with the cold snap we are expecting, salt will not be very effective.

If conditions deteriorate, please consider avoiding driving or postponing trips until conditions improve. Our ability to respond quickly to adverse weather will be hampered until we get these trucks back in operation.

(and yes, we are looking in to alternatives, just as we did last fall. Options are limited, but we are searching.)
