Lewis Creek at Tyler Bridge Rd unsafe for swimming

Lewis Creek Association tests water quality at Lewis Creek swimming holes and other locations each year. Provisional 2014 data results suggest Lewis Creek sites at Rte 7 in Ferrisburgh and Tyler Bridge Road in Monkton are currently unsafe for swimming.

The Tyler Bridge site is now owned by Fish and Wlldlife for public access. Please use caution at this site in particular. The ecoli level on July 2 was 686.67 (very high), while the Rte 7 site was 272.3. Both unsafe at this time. The state standard is 77, and about to become 250.

Vermont Gas contractors are surveying for Monkton gas distribution

The Town of Monkton received the following notice from Vermont Gas Systems:

Vermont Gas consultants, Kregs and Lansing survey crews, will be in the Town of Monkton the week of July 14th locating utilities and picking up additional detail for the VGS distribution network design.   Work will take place on private property where VGS has obtained right of entry permission from property owners.
