Town Forest Walk and Presentation

Town Forest Invitation

UPDATE: THE WALK IS ON FOR  3:00 PM TODAY

You’re invited to join the UVM student’s forest walk and presentation of the future Monkton Town Forest this coming Wednesday May 8th!

Seven graduate students in the UVM Landscape Inventory & Assessment Course will lead a forest walk from 3:00pm – 5:00pm, at the future Monkton Town Forest property, followed by an evening presentation from 7:00pm – 8:30pm at the Monkton Town Hall on 5/8/24. Join one or both! They have used the property as their classroom this past semester and will be presenting their final project to our community with topics on human history, wildlife and vegetation. This will be a great way to learn more about the property and start brainstorming what we’d like our management plan to look like.

Monkton Natural Resources!

The Monkton Conservation Commission is excited to bring to you a presentation by Arrowwood Environmental about the unique natural resources and habitats of Monkton.

The Monkton Natural Resources Inventory mapping project satisfies the forest block integrity and connectivity mapping requirements of Act 171, but also provides the Monkton community and town planners with detailed and up-to-date mapping of wetlands, upland and lowland species, and more.

The purpose of the presentation is to summarize, present, and discuss the results of this project.

All are invited to attend, learn, and seek information! Cider and donuts will be on-hand.
