Notice of Democratic Town Caucus to Nominate Justice of the Peace Candidates

NOTICE OF DEMOCRATIC TOWN CAUCUS TO ELECT NOMINEES TO SERVE AS JUSTICE OF THE PEACE

Notice is hereby given that the Democratic Town Committee of MONKTON will hold a caucus for the purpose of electing nominees to stand for election as Justice of the Peace on the 2020 General Election Ballot.

The meeting will be held at via Zoom on Wednesday AUGUST 5, 2020 at 7:00 P.M.  Zoom ID is 802-453-3800 Password 1762. Telephone Number to attend meeting by phone 646-558-8656. If you are unable to attend the remote meeting are interested in being a JP please contact the Town Chair (# below).

Fireworks display in Monkton

We recently received word that a private individual is putting on a fireworks display in Monkton. He has received the required permits (the Select Board is not a part of the permitting process for fireworks displays).  The launch site is from Silver Street, a bit north of the Monkton Ridge. It shold be visible from various parts of town.  Here is the information we have at this time:

July 4, 2020 from 9:00 – 9:30 PM

Fireworks display for anyone and everyone. When the country is forced apart, independence day, brings us together. Lets not focus on what makes us different, and for one day, remember we are all Americans. We are all in this together, no matter who you are or where you are from.

Please do not park on the traveled portion of town roads, and ask private landowners for permission before parking on their property. We urge all residents to practice social distancing, wear masks when in close proximity to people not from your household, and generally follow state and CDC guidelines to help avoid spreading the coronavirus.
