Help Wanted

The Town of Monkton has an urgent need to fill the following 3 positions:

  • Animal Control Officer – responsible for enforcing State laws and Town Ordinances regarding care, treatment, licensing, and impoundment of animals; picks up sick, injured, stray or vicious animals.  Pay is $15/hr with 3 hour minimum per month.
  • Development Review Board (DRB) – Board performs site plan reviews, subdivision reviews and rules on implementation of zoning regulations.  Applicants are encouraged to attend one or more meetings.
  • Planning Commission – responsible for drafting Town Plan and land use bylaws (zoning regulations).  Applicants are encouraged to attend one or more meetings.

Trash Collection Rates at Recycling Drop-off

Steve Smith of PDS Waste has decided to retire from Saturday pickup at the recycling drop-off.  Starting at the next recycling date on Saturday November 9th , trash collection will be done by Moose Rubbish instead of PDS Waste.  This will result in a small increase in trash collection rates and expanded services.  The price charged for bags is based somewhat on weight but in general it will cost $5.00 for 30 to 45 gallon bags and $3.00 for 13 to 20 gallon bags.  In addition, Moose will except food scraps at $1.00 per pail and $2.00 and up for yard waste depending on the amount (a bag of leaves would be $2.00).
