Shortly after Town Meeting the Monkton Selectboard begins the process of making appointments to various committees that perform the bulk of the Town’s business.  Many of these committees are actively recruiting new members and the work they do is vital to the Town of Monkton.  This year the following positions will be appointed (‘*’ indicate one or more open positions):

Treasurer
Lister (1 position *)
Development Review Board (2 position)
Recreation Committee (2 positions *)
Town Service Officer
911 Coordinator
Emergency Management Director*
Conservation Commission (2 positions *)
Delegate and Alternate to Addison Solid Waste Management District (2 positions)

Agricultural and Natural Areas Committee (2 positions)
Town Forest Committee (new – 5 positions *)

1. Elect Chair of Board of Abatement.
2. Abatement hearing for Geraldine Hallock, Parcel ID 04.102.06.200 on Hollow Road for inability to pay taxes, interest and collection fees.

Members of Board of Abatement are the following officials of the Town of Monkton: Treasurer, Town Clerk, Selectboard, Listers and Justices of the Peace. Information about abatements can be found here.

The Selectboard for the Town of Monkton will hold a public informational hearing by electronic means on February 27, 2021 at 10 a.m. to discuss the Australian ballot articles on the 2021 Town Meeting Warning.

MAUSD Annual Budget Presentation Meeting will be this Tuesday 2/23@6pm  This is the meeting for the Superintendent and Board to present, explain and answer questions about the 2021-2022 school budget. Voting on this budget will be March 2nd.

The discussion portion of Town Meeting will be held remotely this year via Zoom.  It is important that everyone has a chance to participate.  To help make this happen, the Town will have a practice Zoom session on Saturday February 20^th from 9 a.m. to noon.  This is a chance to make sure you know how to connect to Zoom, how to mute and unmute yourself and how to raise your hand in a remote meeting.   Please join us for this quick practice session (you only need 5 minutes or so) and we look forward to ‘seeing’ you for the Informational Hearing on the 27^th.
