Monkton Vermont

The Selectboard would like to host a discussion of suggestions and issues regarding siting of a municipal park and ride at the lower parking lot at Monkton Central School.  This meeting will take place prior on April 27th at 6:00 p.m. at Town Hall and all interested parties are invited to participate.  The lower parking lot was built by the Recreation Committee as a parking lot for a proposed recreational facility and as a park and ride.

Some of the suggestions / points that have come up so far in our preliminary investigation are

1. Should additional lighting be installed?  There is already 24 hour lighting at the school.
2. Should an additional curb cut be added to relieve congestion from our single entrance to both lots?
3. Will funds be available from the State?  Can those funds be used for paving?
4. Will the change in the usage of the lot cause any problems – especially given the proximity to the school / playground.

Please come to the meeting prepared with an open mind and constructive suggestions and points to consider.  If you cannot make the meeting please feel free to send comments to the Selectboard at selectboard@monktonvt.com

It’s time for the Monkton Volunteer Fire Department’s Annual Breakfast.  The breakfast will be held at the fire department on Sunday, April 19^th from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM.   The awesome array of dishes includes egg casserole, scrambled eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage, juices, milk coffee, tea and possibly more!  Pure maple syrup will be available to top your food.  Come to join in on good food, conversation and catch up on what’s going on with your neighbors and in town.  All are welcome.  For more information call Charlie at 877-2888.
