TOWN OF MONKTON

SEASONAL PART-TIME HIGHWAY CREW

The Town of Monkton is seeking qualified applicants to join the Highway Department road crew on a seasonal part-time basis.  This position requires experience in highway maintenance and repair, mechanical ability, record keeping and communication skills. The position is seasonal, part time, 30 hours per week that will run the duration of the beginning of May until the first week of October.  Must pass a drug test and be dependable, CDL a plus.  Full job description is available at Town Hall or online at monktonvt.com/temp-road-crew.

HIGHWAY CREW

The Town of Monkton is seeking qualified applicants to join the Highway Department road crew.  This position requires experience in highway maintenance and repair, mechanical ability, record keeping and communication skills. The position is full­time, 40 hours per week, requiring a flexible schedule which may include nights, weekends and holidays, as well as overtime. Shortly after Town Meeting the Monkton Selectboard begins the process of making appointments to various committees that perform the bulk of the Town’s business.  Many of these committees are actively recruiting new members and the work they do is vital to the Town of Monkton.  This year the following positions will be appointed (‘*’ indicate one or more open positions).

SOLAR ECLIPSE VIEWING PARTY will be at the Monkton Town Hall on April 8, 2024 from 1:00 to 4:30.

Queen Bee and ReMarcAble Bakery will be there selling food during the event.  There will be lawn games and an outdoor walk through the solar system.  Eugenie Doyle will lead Yoga 101 a 20-minute guided practice from 1:15 to 1:35pm, craft making for all ages from 1 to 3pm in the Friends Methodist Church community rooms, a sing-a-long led by Lee Kauppila from 1:45 to 2:30, and a selfie booth 1 to 4:30pm.  The eclipse will begin around 2:15 with totality at 3:26pm.  If you haven’t read any articles about eye safety, this article was recently published by UVM.  Continue reading →
