The Selectboard would like to host a discussion of suggestions and issues regarding siting of a municipal park and ride at the lower parking lot at Monkton Central School. This meeting will take place prior on April 27th at 6:00 p.m. at Town Hall and all interested parties are invited to participate. The lower parking lot was built by the Recreation Committee as a parking lot for a proposed recreational facility and as a park and ride.
Some of the suggestions / points that have come up so far in our preliminary investigation are
- Should additional lighting be installed? There is already 24 hour lighting at the school.
- Should an additional curb cut be added to relieve congestion from our single entrance to both lots?
- Will funds be available from the State? Can those funds be used for paving?
- Will the change in the usage of the lot cause any problems – especially given the proximity to the school / playground.
